CURSE THE FLU

BWAAHHHHHHHH!!! >_<

Swine flu has yet again decided to attack my homeroom, so I have the next few days off. Which is good and bad, as always. But it's more bad this time because I'm now one of the sick ones T_T I dunno if it's swine flu or not (going to a doctor later today to find out), but my throat hurts and I dislike it.

But moving on:

I moved to my official second host family over the weekend! It's a younger couple, the Nakamuras, who have 2 daughters abroad right now. I really like them! My host dad is a very quiet and nice person, and my host mom is such a lot of fun. She's really energetic, and she keeps using all of these complicated Japanese phrases (but she speaks fluent English), so I'm learning a lot. I really liked my temporary host family, but I'm glad to be able to actually unpack again ^-^

Um, yeah, other than that honestly not that much new stuff has been going on. But, on a side note, today I found out that my English is officially going weird. The temporary exchange student (Mike), Shimizu-sensei, and I were having a discussion earlier today about accents, and I was trying to describe how North Carolina hosts both southern accents and normal American accents, and Mike goes, "Oh yeah, when I first met you I was really surprised. You don't have an American accent- it actually sounds sort of British." UWAH-?!! What's going on here? Apparently, because the only English I hear is British, Aussie, New Zealander, or Japanese-English, my accent is gone. I don't recall the change ever occurring, but apparently it has. My English is just going crazy. I can't speak properly anymore because I keep using Japanese grammar (which, by the bye, I don't really know). It's not that I prefer to speak Japanese over English, but... neither one is good for expressing myself right now. They need to converge somehow, and then I'll be good ^-^ But on the brighter side of things, for some reason I can now understand 10x more than I could 2 weeks ago, so that's nice. I can't speak worth much, but at least I have some idea of what's going on. For example, I watched Spirited Away for about the 80 billionth time last week and could actually understand maybe 70-80% of the Japanese. (Of course I've seen it so much the plot is forever ingrained into my soul O.o)

Alrighty then, talk to ya'll laters! Wish me good health, お願いします ^ー^

This flu thing is getting ridiculous. Get well soon, love. Take care of yourself (clear fluids... water, water, and more water, plenty of rest) and the people around you (don't sneeze on their food).
