So I started riding my bike to the train station today, and the worst thing ever happened. I hit one of the elementary school kids. I was coming up to an intersection and a group of them were turning in my direction. I could have gone around a) right, into the street, b) left, through a small margin of space between a fence and the group, or c) stopped and waited. I didn't want to get hit by a car, so I didn't go right, and I tried to go left. But one little girl ran around the corner to catch up with her friends and ended up running straight into my bike. Damages? As for the little girl, I'm not sure- she started by saying her stomach hurt, then her head, then nothing cause she didn't want to get in an ambulance- you know how little kids are. I have a bruise on my ribs from crashing into my handlebar after breaking too fast. And I feel absolutely AWFUL. The little girl wouldn't stop crying, and that made me cry, and then people were asking me questions in Japanese which my brain was a bit too frazzled to process, the police came, an ambulance came, and people were staring left and right. I mean, you would've thought there was a car crash, not just a bike accident! People kept telling me, "It's okay, it's okay, don't worry!", but I'm afraid that did little more than make me cry more, for some unknown reason. And there's the whole "I'm judged for being a foreigner" thing.
So yeah. I feel pretty terrible. I hope your morning went better (or will go better, time difference) than mine.

I'm hoping both of you will be okay soon! And, Teresa, accidents happen all over the world (even in Australia) and they are just that, accidents. Nobody means for them to happen.
