SOCCER!

Japan is probably the only country in the world other than America that calls soccer "soccer" and not football, and the only reason they do is because the American word got here first. But anywho, the FIFA World Cup 2010 is almost here, and for the first time in my life, I actually care! It's been in the news a lot lately because Japan is competing this year. I don't know why soccer isn't more popular in America. It's not basketball- although considering where I live in the US, I'm pretty biased towards basketball- but I think it's a lot better than American football. And I may not totally understand the Japanese fascination with baseball (literally all of my guy friends here have played baseball at some point in their lives), but I do understand the world's fascination with soccer.

Here's to hoping Japan does well this year!! (And, you know, the US, too) ^-^

  1. They ARE doing well! They are in the elimination round, which should make the coach into a sort of demigod in Japan. They will play Paraguay on Tuesday the 29th. Get out your vuvuzela!
